About Our School

Fairhaven Church of England Voluntary Aided Primary School was opened in 1989 following the amalgamation of South Walsham Primary School with Upton Primary School.

We are a co-educational Church of England school for children aged between 4 and 11, situated in the broadland village of South Walsham. We currently have 98 pupils on roll. We operate 4 mixed aged classes. We also have a purpose-built library, an outdoor learning space and a hall that is used for: assemblies, PE, music and a dining room.

The school has a rural setting, surrounded by farmland, backing onto the village playing fields and opposite the renowned Fairhaven Garden Trust. We have a hard play area with some exciting play equipment, a new trim trail and use of the village playing fields for sports activities and summer playtimes. There is also a parish playground adjacent to the school which families often make use of at the end of the day.

Our fenced wildlife garden with picnic benches provides the added dimension of an unusual outdoor classroom. We are in the process of becoming a Forest School, and the children can cultivate fruits and vegetables. This unique resource provides our children with direct first-hand experience of the environment and enables them to understand the wider world and develop their broader social responsibilities.
