Welcome to the Sycamore Class page. Sycamore Class is our Reception Class. Mrs Fleet is our teacher and Mrs Everson and Mrs Creed are our Teaching Assistants.
Spring 2022
In Sycamore Class this term our topic has been Space. We learnt about the different planets in the solar system. The children created a fantasy planet story box to use in their own storytelling.
We thought about the sun and how shadows are created and made funny shadows on the playground. We also learnt about how the earth rotates to create day and night.
When thinking about the moon, and how it looks like it is changing shape, we used Oreo biscuits to help us to understand the different phases. 
We learnt about being an astronaut and acted out the first moon landing which was lots of fun. 
We also did a science experiment, using different forces to launch rockets and made rockets using 2D and 3D shapes.
We looked at ‘The Starry Night’ by Vincent van Gogh and created our own version collaboratively using different art techniques. We also made star biscuits which were yummy!
